Rust in Peace

Posted by mike on June 14th, 2007

Bad news… things are not looking so good in the saga of the buried car:

TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ Workers unearthing the 1957 Plymouth Belvedere buried under the city’s courthouse lawn were dealt an early setback Wednesday, as several feet of water were found in the concrete vault supposedly strong enough to withstand a nuclear attack.

This is a bummer. Kind of sad, actually. I was holding out hope that the dreams of the folks in 1957 would be realized by a near-pristine car with all of their contents and well-wishes intact. I know one guy had even left a letter for his children in the car. I hope those things held up, but it’s clear from the pictures that this car has been covered at various times by several feet of water. It does not appear the “protective covering” was basically a drape that was put over it, and not a real watertight seal. I guess the folks back then did not know the properties of concrete like we know them now.

Anyhow, stay tuned! And don’t forget to please Register with this site! =)

What’s the deal with registering anyways? What are you trying to do?

I’m creating a huge list of email addresses, which I plan to sell to Darth Vader. He will then use those addresses to recruit more Storm Troopers to help fight the resistance.

Actually, I’m just trying to get an idea of how many folks are actually reading this site. It also will allow me to send a once-in-a-blue-moon reminder to keep checking this out, or inform people if it’s going to be down for some reason for an extended time. =)
